What It Takes To Make A Great Church

Acts 2:41-47
Intro: One of the first things it takes to make a great church is people. Without God’s people, a church will never get off the ground. Today we will look at what kind of people that it takes to make a church great.
- Saved — V. 41 –Matthew 7:21 – “Not all that say to me Lord, Lord will ..”
- A. Not Church Membership
- B. Not Baptism – Thief on the Cross
- C. Not Works – Eph. 2:8,9
- Stedfast People – V. 42
- A. Faithful In Word of God — V.42 –“Apostles Doctrine”
- B. Fellowship —- V. 42 — we need fellowship with each other
( Can’t fellowship with the world all the time and have a great church )
- C. Breaking of Bread – V. 42 –They ate together and shared with each other
- D. Prayers – V. 42 — “ God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you. “
- Sincerely Feared God — V. 43 –our society has no fear of God anymore. We live like there is no repercussions for our actions.
- Sold Their Material Possessions – V. 45 — ( Generous Giving )
- Our offerings are indicators that our Church can be strong as long as we continue to give.
- Singleness of Heart – V.46 – Psalm 133:1 These people found a way to agree !!!
- Sufficiently Praised God – V. 47
Joke- It was announced in church that there would be a meeting of the Board immediately after church. When the service ended, the board gathered back of church and there was a visitor standing in the midst. The Pastor looked at the visitor and said, “ This is supposed to be a meeting of the board.” The visitor resonded, “ Yes, and after today’s sermon, I am just as bored as everyone else who came to this meeting.”
